Army Research Laboratory Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships

Army Research Laboratory Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships provide early career researchers the opportunity to pursue independent research of their own choosing that supports the mission of ARL. Fellows receive a USD 115,000 per year stipend, health insurance including dental and vision, relocation assistance when applicable, and a professional travel allowance. Applicants must have completed Ph.D. or Sc.D. requirements in eligible scientific or engineering fields by October 1, 2026, may not be more than five years beyond the doctorate by the deadline, and must meet citizenship, permanent residence, or accepted visa criteria. Complete applications, including recommendation letters, must be submitted through the online portal by July 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. or Sc.D. in the physical sciences, life sciences, computational sciences, behavioral sciences, or engineering by October 1, 2026; may not be more than five years beyond the Ph.D. or Sc.D. award date by the application deadline; and must meet the citizenship, permanent residence, or accepted visa-class requirements listed on the official page.

Independent research relevant to ARL research competencies.

Candidates should demonstrate exceptional academic and scholarly achievement and clear promise of leadership.

Finalists may be asked to present a seminar at ARL.
