LEVANTE 2026 Call for Proposals

LEVANTE, the Learning Variability Network Exchange, is a Jacobs Foundation initiative funding projects that help build a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary open dataset on child development and learning variability.

Applications are open to research labs within universities or institutes and NGOs with demonstrated research capacity.

Main applicants should be conducting high-quality research in learning and development and be committed to contributing to LEVANTE and Jacobs Foundation activities.

The call encourages applications from underrepresented regions and has special interest in Jacobs Foundation target countries, including Colombia, Ghana, Switzerland, and Cote d'Ivoire.

Research projects assessing children aged 3 to 12 over time, focused on learning variability, child development, contextual influences, and dense measurement approaches.

Projects may investigate mechanisms underlying learning and development, environmental and socio-economic factors, institutional reforms, within-child variability, and developmental trajectories.

Successful projects are expected to use LEVANTE infrastructure, comply with ethics, privacy, and data policies, and contribute to coordinated open science.

The total funding pool is up to USD 6 million. Individual funding can reach up to USD 1 million for exceptional projects requiring significant infrastructure and effort.
